Toad the Wet SprocketIf you can absorb life's difficulties, swallow the bitter taste and give back only cinnamon -- you build your own "Little Heaven" |
Toad the Wet Sprocket is often the subject of derision, a lot of people look at them as a quintessential 1990's frivolous alternative band. But I think those people miss a lot of subtlety. Their lyrics aren't exactly Shakespeare, but they have their moments. And they really project this ethereal mood with the vocalist's singing and the slow, drawn-out guitars. The imagery I've highlighted here captures life's difficulties very well, in my opinion.
Other good examples from their best-of album, "In
Heavy Syrup," include "Hope" and "Good Intentions"
-- what an optimistic band! Check 'em out.
